Where have you seen this "aperture preferred automatic" term? What you are
describing above is the behaviour of Hyper-Manual mode, as defined in the
Z-1p manual.
Long before there was a PZ-1 there was a camera called the ES, the first
aperture preferred automatic camera to be exported from Japan
I heard the term in 1971, when I saw an advert for the ES
Pentax coined the term "Hyper-Manual" to describe going from manual exposure
to automatic exposure by pressing one button, rather than having to turn a
dial, or change a menu setting to get an automatic exposure quickly.
Call it what you will, if the user sets one exposure parameter and the
camera sets the other one, it's auto exposure.
