Pentax, at least Pentax USA had K mount lenses listed as current items
up until a couple of years ago.

real backward compatability you could use that Tessar you bought in

I used Boz's page as a reference. He lists the original K mount as
1975, and the Ka mount as 1983.
Technically 8 years, possibly as little as seven, since we don't know
if they were full years, so to speak, possibley 9 years, if there was
old stock to get rid of.
