THIS IS A GOOD POST- one of the few arguments
I find to have some good merit. Yes it would be
a moot point if MOST or ALL the K/M lenses
were unsuitable on this particular APS sensor
but what about the fact that A and F and possibly some FA
lenses werent designed for APS digital either then
why would the K/M series be any more problematic
on this particular sensor?

Secondly, there
has been quite a lot of posts here already
that people are getting fine results with
K/M lenses using "green button thingy" so
that seems to dispell this notion.
what is really needed is some good hard
data on all of the K/M lenses performances with this
particular sensor. If It was determined
that none of them were any good at all on this
sensor but I havent heard much of that feedback
in the two years since these DSLRS came out.

Lastly if all the older lenses K/M/F/FA
that were not designed for digital where
unsuitable for the pentax DSLR- Then Why
buy it? I would switch to Canon if I
had that choice but that doesn't seem to be the case
at least so far by what users are saying...

And lastly, there have been many many arguments
that DSLR buyers don't care about quality, buy
99% zzoms, etc. If that's the case then even
if the K/M lenses werent ideal on APS sensor
compared to film, then K/M support removal would
again be unjustified without any compatability
issues...

Some, it seems, are more capable on film cameras and less so with digital.
That's been noted here several times. While I've just started to work with
the K (and M) lenses on the DS, I was surprised to see that one of my
favorites doesn't seem to stack up very well when used with the DS. More
exposures are necessary to reach a definite conclusion, but the first
impression was disappointing.

That said, it's quite possible that, in many instances, the use of K & M
lenses would not be the first choice for quality conscious D-series users,
making the entire discussion of interchangability and compatibilty somewhat
moot..
