It asserts that macro photography (or 'photomacography' to be more correct ;-) is close up photography at 1:1 or higher magnification.

However, I consider anything in the range from 1:8 to 5:1 magnifications to be in the macro realm, as that seems to be the range that the old Kodak manuals I learned photomacography from talked about.
