I'm not so sure - the compact format has some advantages; 1- Lens/body/sensor are fixed and so can be perfectly optimised for each other - better quality. 2- No dust bunnies 3- Composition using large LCD - (I have a Canon G3 and never use the view finder !) 4 - Everything you need in one piece of kit - much better than lugging a bag full of lenses I think that this format will eventually dominate - SLRs will become very specialist (like MF today). This camera has just about everything that I need in one piece of kit. Rob W
