Oh, sorry, Marnie.  I guess you may not have been around when I was
posting shots from my trip to NYC for CMWC (Cycle Messenger World
Championships).  The Boston messengers have a tradition of riding
naked for at least one lap of each race they enter.  Of course, the
ones that do that aren't in contention, and they always do it near the
end.

I have no idea how it started, but AFIAK, it was already going on when
they held the first CMWC 11 years ago in Berlin.

It's done not only for CMWC, but for NACs (North American
Championships) and Euro as well, and I guess every major courier race
they make it to.

As to "why", well, I don't know for sure, but ilicit substance(s) and
alcohol may be involved. <g>  They are couriers after all...
