There's a difference between "obsolete" and a desire to upgrade. An *istD will still be a good picture taking device ten years from now. That Canon was marginal even when it was new. You're comparing apples to oranges, infant technology to reasonably well-developed technology. I'll upgrade as soon as I can get ten or twelve megapixels for less than $2500, but my D will still be a good camera.
