with processing at my local pro lab, a roll of Provia 100F cost me about $14. even at that price, the *istD has paid for itself twice over in saved processing costs. i probably would have shot about the same number of frames if i had stuck with a film camera, but i think i would have ended up with about half as many good shots.

In calculating the break-even point for my D, I used a figure of $25 a roll for premium slide film and professional processing. I don't use Ritz or such places. This figure may have been just a bit high, but it was convenient and in the ballpark. It was the figure I was going to use if my wife ever asked. She didn't.
