This time I wrote the nursing home telling them I would be refiling a small claims suit unless I heard from them in ten days. I thought I'd go for outraged but conciliatory rather than just confrontational. I got a call today that they don't argue with my figures (paying for Mom's lost clothes and hearing aid, plus a refund for overpayment) and they are going to pay.
Whew. I was dreading presenting a case in small claims court. Just stressing and stressing about it. For those of you that were paying attention I missed the last date by 4.5 minutes because they were paving our street. Extreme frustration, etc. I am going to remain suspicious a bit, but I believe her (the director) today that they will pay. Why not? I would win if it went to court. I want to publically thank ERNR, Eleanor, for reading my letter before I sent it -- for content validation and sentence/punctuation proofing. It was a big help. If for nothing else, having a shoulder to cry on, well, not quite, but having a sympathetic ear (eye :-) to listen (read). I'll feel better when money is in hand, but between that and the Image Tank replacement I feel I am now batting 2 out of 2. So I'll be around again here again, but lurking mainly for a while because there is some other stuff I am busy with too. Thanks, again, ERNR. Sometimes this list comes in handy in more ways than one. And I am back now because she told me the GFM photos/comments were starting to roll in, and having gone last year and having met a lot of you, I wanted to see/read them. See if you guys were as crazy as ever. Actually, it sounds like you were even more so. Poor Cesar. Marnie aka Doe :-)
