if you are doing a single row panorama, the lens choice only affects the
vertical angle of view. if you want lots of sky and ground, you need a wide
lens. if you are doing distant mountains, you need a long lens. i prefer
using a 24mm equivalent FOV in portrait mode because that is a good
compromise between resolution and number of frames. most software i use like
it best when there is between 30% and 50% overlap between adjacent frames.

Subject: RE: Panorama stitching software: Pixtra PanoStitch?
can you give me a hint what lens I should use for my first try doing a
panorama shot of the next round view from the Swiss Alps? 50mm, 35mm, 28mm
?
On the Cullmann tripod is a grade scale, should I use that and how much do
I
have to overlap the shots?
I have not decided yet on the software to use late for stitching...
