This weekend I went to an interesting exhibit of photography and other
art forms, called "Ashes and Snow," at Pier 54 in New York City.
It was an interesting experience. The photographs are stunning and
emotionally moving. The "nomadic museum" in which is is housed, and
which travels with it, is also quite interesting.
I loved the photography, the structure, and even the "art
installations." Unfortunately, the film that was showing, covering the
same subjects and scenes as the photography, was overdone and overly
pretentious. The "novel in letters" that was read during the film was
incomprehensible and self indulgant.
Still, the exhibit is well worth a visit for the photographs alone.
