Our road system is full of them, I wouldn't call them obsolete, as new
ones are still being built. I find them very user friendly - as long as
everyone plays by the same rules ;-)

In _my_ experience, some of the really OLD timers over there don't follow the rules of the road as I understand them, and my inexperience in navigating in traffic that travels on the wrong side of the road ANYhow...sometimes leads to heart attack time! ;-)
Verrry disconcerting it is!
