I don't subscribe to that concept at all, I always recommend Windows as it has the largest support base, largest array of software and is compatible with the widest range of hardware, not because Microsoft is Microsoft, it's a no brainer for me. And it's not though lack of experience, I've owned, supported and tinkered with most other O/S and O/S specific hardware. Computers are a different matter though as the support base is huge for even relatively obscure platforms. I learnt early that it's wiser to paddle with the current than against.
