I don't know about artifacty, but it doesn't seem particularly sharp to me. Not that that's a huge problem, mind you, but it does rather strike me as a shot where perhaps sharpness may be at least a consideration. Other than that, I do like the composition, and the general idea behind it. I think a series would be a great idea!
