Elliott Erwitt, at least early in his career (and perhaps later as well), made his living doing advertising photography. When he wasn't working, he walked the streets with his Leica. In fact, I believe he called his Leica his "hobby camera". He called the photos taken with his hobby camera, "snapshots".
