What you are proposing amounts to the film technique of shoot and hope
you get it right, then "develop" (on the computer now) to see if you did.
Seems silly to me when it could be done in-camera. Photoshop/Gimp will
let you generate a log historgram... try it sometime. For some images its
indispensable for analysis.
What I am suggesting is learning the appropriate exposure techniques
required to take the picture you want without depending on post picture
technology.
The technique of shoot and hope you get it right is what people who don't
know exposure do.
The educated photographer shoots and knows he got it right.
This is what I am suggesting.
What you are suggesting is that I am suggesting something I am not
suggesting.
