Nikon has been part of the Matsushita group (National, Panasonic,
Technics, ...) for several years.
I thought Nikon was part of Mitsubishi?
Of course I might be wrong, and perhaps I have listened to the wrong
rumours and speculation, now that we are leaning over a crystal ball to
watch the future of Pentax; but the info I had is that first Panasonic
started to make Nikon's flashguns and most of the electronics of their
cameras (in the end of the 80's and beginning of the 90's), and
afterwards they took complete control of the company.
But I don't know for sure if this is true. I was told all this by a
Nikon rep some time ago.
