It's first thing Saturday morning, and in about 1/2 hour, I'm off to Kingston to visit the kids for the long weekend. This is our Victoria Day weekend. May 24 is when we celebrate the birthday of our last Empress, Queen Victoria. I don't think it's actually her birthday, but it's when we celebrate it. And, the weekend closest the 24th is a long weekend. Traditionally the first weekend of the "summer season": one opens the cottage (if one has a cottage), goes camping (that's where the 2-4 comes in - a 2-4 being the largest case of beer we can buy), or generally gets out of town like me. Oh yeah, and from now to Labour day, we can wear white shoes... <vbg>
Whilst in Kingston, we plan on heading up to Ottawa for the last weekend of the Tulip Festival, which started after WWII in recognition of the close ties between our countrty and the Netherlands during that war. We helped liberate their country and allowed their Royal Family to stay here for the duration, and now we have tulips and let ING bank do bad TV ads. <g> So, what to bring? Some rolls of colour print film (Fuji 200 of some sort), LX, Tamron 2.5 90mm Macro, Vivitar VS1 3.8 24-48, Vivitar VS1 2.8 35-85, Pentax 1.2 50mm, Zenitar 2.8 16mm fisheye, plus a flash. That should cover it. Some of those lenses are recent enablements that I haven't mentioned here yet. This weekend will be the first real test of a couple of them. Whether it's a long weekend for you or not, hava good 'un, and I'll catch y'all Monday evening. cheers, frank -- "Sharpness is a bourgeois concept." -Henri Cartier-Bresson
