Was out shooting with the long lenses the other day, trying to decide whether to carry the FA135/2.8 plus 2x teleconverter or the F100-300/4.5-5.6 on my trip next week. I was meandering around a local park when I spotted a large bird hopping around the field in the distance ...

A hawk. It seemed somewhat dazed for a bit, just walking here and there. Three crows were giving it a hard time. Then it shook itself, straightened up and took off, nipped back down and grabbed a field mouse or something, and took off with the crows in hot pursuit...

I just had time to swap the 135mm for the 100-300 *PLUS* 2x teleconverter ... set to 300mm (600mm effective!) it's a little long for a hand-held shot. Pumped the ISO up to 800 and fired off a few ... I'm surprised how nicely it came out for a quick shot.

Anyone know what kind of hawk this is?
