That may be a neat way of doing it.
It's got nothing to do with art 8-) Bats will be put off by the flash and will either not visit the place again or, if it is a roost, stay indoors. Even shining a torch into a roost entrance will make them stay at home. So one might get a picture of _a_ bat but will have no idea if more than that woud normally use the barn. > > For motion sensors, I suspect that the type used for burglar alarms will have > a > sufficient AOV to detect motion in the whole barn-door opening. > > This solution would require that you have a camera/flash trigger developed, > though. I don't know how easy that is. A friend of mine has had a box built to > control a Nikon D100, but I can't recall neither price nor construction > challenges...:-( I think that is the lesser problem. Throwing money at it will work 8-) Making bats more tolerant of light, though... Thanks for the input. I suspect that IR video is the way to go. Dealing with this has certainly opened my eyes to the questionable techniques used by some photographers to get bat pictures. mike ----------------------------------------- Email sent from www.ntlworld.com virus-checked using McAfee(R) Software visit www.ntlworld.com/security for more information
