Anyone have any experience with this lens?

around lens)

I have one of those lenses. It is a good lens, for a zoom. Distortion is low, and sharpness high, except at 135 mm. wide open (f:5.6).
It is well built, lens barrels are made of aluminium, the lens mount is steel, but others parts are plastic or rubber. The filter screw is plastic. It is an internal focus lens (IF), but the lens barrel trombones out when the focal length is increased.
One of the good things about this zoom is that it has a 40 cm. close focusing distance at all focal lenghts.
I use it with film SLRs, not digital, and it is a practical, good walk around lens. The only weak point is that it is a 3.5-5.6 lens, and sometimes it is too slow unless you use fast film, but that is less of a problem with a DSLR. It is 3.5 at 24 mm., but it becomes f:4.0 as soon as you zoom until 35 mm., 4.5 from 50 mm. upwards, and beyond 100 mm. it is 5.6
I hope this helps.

Carlos
