Cotty wrote this as his explanation why people who would buy a Digital Rebel wouldn't buy Photoshop CS:
"Because most purchasers of an entry-level anything would not necessarily then purchase a top-level peripheral tool. Would the purchaser of a compact car then buy a set of wheels nearly equalling the price of the car?"
I am sure she doesn't think of her new camera as entry level. She chose it because it's smaller and lighter than the other models. It's much more capable (and lighter) than the D60 it is replacing.
The customer may not think their camera is entry level, but most likely, they are not going to consider a piece of software more expensive than their camera as a good investment.
When I was in the selling game, it was most often an uphill battle to get people to buy good quality lenses because they were quite expensive.
I recall one notable comment from a customer along the line of "I'm not going to buy a lens that costs more than my camera cost".
The average person thinks the camera is what takes the picture. It's only when they take a real interest in photography that they realize this is wrong.
