I recently was helping a friend choose a digi P&S. In the end he went
for the panasonic/lumix thingy specifically because it had the largest
screen on the back. I pointed out the lack of viewfinder and he said
"That's why I want the big screen"...

I sent him links to the new Pentaxes the other day. I told him that
his camera was old now and that he needed a new one, and that these
new ones ticked all of the boxes (his other choices behind the one he
got were all optio S's)...for some reason I didn't get reply...

I barely turn on the screen on my admittedly aged P&S digi - the
viewfinder isn't great, but using it's a habit I can't get out of.
