about a month ago, a German newspaper said that they were thinking of
selling their compact camera division and only keeping their "larger"
cameras and binoculars. the sales will be to Panasonic. given that Leica's
losses widened last quarter and is expected to grow some more, it's still
not certain that company will continue to exist more than a couple of months
from now.
