That's been my experience, too, William. As I noted in a message a little earlier, I intentionally induced that bright bar of flare, and it took some doing. Luckily, the bee hung around long enough to get the shot I sought. I expected to get back a negative so clouded with veiling flare that all you'd really see was the bar of flare and not the rest of the image content. With my Sigma MC 28/2.8, for example, that's exactly what I'd have gotten. TTYL, DougF KG4LMZ
