One minor correction; the HP printers will do everything for you at 600ppi. It's only when you go to the 1200ppi setting (or even 1200x4800) that you have to handle all the complex dithering & drop size yourself.
Mind you, even 600ppi on a 13x17 print is over 200Mb On Fri, May 13, 2005 at 01:00:38PM -0400, Herb Chong wrote: > Epsons have been 360 DPI for about as long as they have been making inkjet > printers, and i think even some of their dot matrix printers are the same. > you can download HP and Epson programmer's guides for device driver writers > for free. the firmware uses hints from the incoming data stream to better > distribute the actual droplets. as a programmer writing to it as a graphics > device, it has only the 360 DPI addressable resolution. some HP printers > are 600 and 1200. this doesn't mean much since then you have to take over > your own dithering when working in the higher resolution modes. at 300dpi > on the HP printers, the device drivers and firmware do all the hard work. > > Herb.... > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Andre Langevin" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Friday, May 13, 2005 11:42 AM > Subject: Re: Adobe CS Raw DPI > > > >Are there any desktop printer able to match this?
