Thanks Christian. I read the reviews. The 50 - 500 sounds like a decent
lens... I just purchased a 500mm f/4.5 Pentax prime off ebay.
We'll see how it works at close to 7 pounds.

From what I've heard, the 50-500 gives better image quality than the
170-500.

Personally, I don't think an f6.3 lens could ever work for me.
