I have spent a lot more money on photography since going digital.  Not
counting computers, printers, monitors etc.  I would have needed these anyway.

But the cost is very different than with film.  When shooting film I am
always aware that it costs money to press the shutter button.  With digital
it is the opposite.  I almost save money by taking more pictures.  That is,
the cost per image becomes less the more I take.  A quite liberating
feeling for a cheapskate like me.

I still do not shoot tons of photos.  More that with film, but old habits
die hard.  Every image should be as good as possible and I do feel slightly
guilty when I shoot a still life without a tripod.
