"I thought I'd just contribute with a shot I'm pretty proud of. The King of Sweden was visiting our small town last week and I got a few decent shots of him."
In late September, 2003, I was at a conference in Lund (Sweden). After that my wife and I went on to Stockholm, where I had been invited to give a talk at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. I kept asking the organizers to give me the time for my presentation, but I could not pin them down. Finally they acknowledged that the King of Sweden would be needing the same room that day, and they weren't sure of the time.
I was stunned to realize that I was competing for the room with a king.
We worked it out. I gave my talk and he came by a little later. Everyone had to be escorted out of the building before his arrival, or be locked in until he was done. The time discipline was actually good for my talk.
I didn't get to see him though.
Congratulations on your photo, Henri.
I love Sweden, btw.
