I always wonder about the crush to get off airplanes. Geez, people
elbowing their way out of their seats to get into the aisle, the
people in the aisle elbowing them back down. You end up waiting 1/2
hour for your damned luggage anyways...

cheers,
frank

Well here's the thing:

If you're 1st out of your seat, you're first to retrieve your overhead carry-ons

If you're in the 1st row, you're 1st off the plane

If you're 1st off the plane, you're 1st into the terminal

If you're 1st into the terminal, you're 1st into the restroom

If you're 1st into the restrrom, you're 1st to do your business

If you're 1st to do your business, you're 1st out of the restroom (please wash hands)

If you're 1st out of the restroom, you're 1st to stand in line for you're luggage

If you're 1st out of the luggage pickup, you're 1st to the rental car desk

You see how that works? :)

About a year and a half ago I was on a plane from Phoenix to Dallas. I too cannot understand why people do not honor the concept of 'if a persons in front of you, you should not push past them'. The person closest to the door, is normally, in an orderly society, the 1st person through it. From the 1st to the last person to deboard the plane, it's usually not more than ten minutes, and if it's between you and the next person, it's merely seconds.

I realized this woman was going to try to push past my row, not allowing me to exit the plane in what should be the normal orderly fashion. I was feeling unusually dour that day, so when she was about to push past me I stepped forcefully into the aisle causing her to run into me as she attempted to pass. Ohhh... the reaction... "Man can you believe this guy!" she said to another passenger very loudly. The other passenger just shook her head like she couldn't believe my rudeness for stepping into the aisle when it was my turn. I simply turned and gave them a very undour smile.

I felt badly afterwards, realizing that I allowed her jackassedness to turn me into a jackass as well.
