Maybe you can try your Pentax lenses on your friend's Canon and see if they produce the same "plasticity" results (I bet they would, but I could be wrong). I know there are M42-EOS adaptor for this purpose, but I don't know if K-EOS adaptor ever exists. My theory is that Canon DSLR in-camera processing can produce very smooth transition, yet the lack of very fine details and noise/grain contribute to this unique "plasticity" quality. If the same images were shot on film, the fine details will be preserved and therefore kill the "plasticity" quality. It is like smoothing a sharp contrasty high quality portrait scan in Photoshop.
