I have this lens too and like it a lot. It's just a mite soft wide open and very sharp stopped down to f/4-5.6. Out of focus rendering quality between f/2 and f/5.6 is just beautiful too.
Use the lens hood as it does tend to flare a little in sunny conditions.
$195? Not too bad. I paid $60 for mine, and $28 for a NOS Pentax hood. Then I had it cleaned and the focusing helicoid re-lubricated as it was a bit too stiff from age and lack of use, so I paid very close to the same thing. It's worth it.
Why people would disparage this lens' quality is beyond me.
