Hi Shel,

apart from control of the light on location (which could be your best
bet), these things can alter colour tonal relationship:

* cross processing
* bleach bypass during C41 processing and fixing in B&W fixer
(increases contrast and desaturates colours - for a computer simulated
bleach bypass photo see my 1/2 maraton picture at
www.frantisekvlcek.com ).

I don't have much experience with them though.

But I am afraid they both wouldn't help here. We will know more when
you post the digisnap of the location.

Extreme Hand of God (burning in) on the grass is also an option - to
darken it considerably, and is of course possible in traditional
darkroom, although finding a darkroom colour printer might be
difficult these times...

Apart from that, you could control the light. Or wait for the best
light. If you think it is really worth it, try finding out if there is
time in the year the sun might reach only the area around the statue,
having the rest of grass in shadow.

Good light!
