Salgado is for me the best current photographer. The audio in
that link is excellent - when he speaks about Salgado passing on the
events on TienAnMen square in 1989 to continue photographing bicycle
workers in some chinese factory for his Workers series (which _is_
excellent)...
He will have a big exhibition of Workers series in fourteen days!
All
trough Czech republic, the exhibition is installed on a train (sic!)
which will stay for a week in all the big cities here... Organised by
Leica gallery again (they did the last Salgado exhibition here several
years ago), they had to resort to ingenious "exhibition grounds"
because the sh*thead president Klaus that got elected here after
Vaclav Havel ended his terms, well Klaus just ordered all interesting
and new culture out of the Prague castle, including a Salgado
exhibition in preparation, World Music festival Respect and others...
I am really looking forward to this exhibition. Any PDMLers from
neighbouring countries wanna come as well :)
BTW, the "landscapes" he has got there - really more like
portraits of
animals and nature portraits - they are way better than all these
reknowned kitsch nature photographers, even much more better then all
the stuff in NatGeo...
