Here's my take on John's image. The first link is his original the second is
the manipulated image.
Also, please let me know if the links don't work for you. It was a PITA to
get a URL for the page.
Comments appreciated

Links work for me.
I like what you did to the background. I'm less certain of the changes to the subject. There was a little wrinkle near her mouth that you "air brushed" out. I didn't mind it in there; after all, wrinkles are a part of aging, and it was only a small and therefore inoffensive one. Still, getting it out was okay, I guess.
I'm not so sure that I like what you did around her mouth. I know you got rid of shadows and it almost looks like you gave her fuller lips, but maybe that's only because those shadows are gone. It seems rather artificial-looking, however. Maybe it's all in my mind because I know it was manipulated, but that's my feeling none-the-less.
Kind of got rid of or toned down some shadows/lines on her neck, too. Same thoughts there as the little wrinkle by her mouth.
You know, I can't help but think yours looks too "sterile" and has an air of artificiality about it. Again, that's comparing it with the original. Had I seen yours from the get-go, without reference to the original, I'd likely feel different.
cheers, frank
