If I may be so frank, I'd ask you kindly to take your patronising 
elsewhere, Shel. Whether Tom overstepped some fine line of privacy 
with his post is not for you to judge. I for one appreciate to have 
been informed, since having met and like the person in question.

I also find it very ill conceived to take a thread of concern about a 
person that many people on the list know and turn it into a rant over 
the rights to privacy.

Our mileages vary, obviously.
