i'm about like you, although the aperture setting is used fairly often. one 
occasion where i use MF by preference is in macro shooting where the DOF is 
almost never enough and i need to choose more carefully to get what's 
important in adequate focus.

It all depends on what you use it for.  For me, I probably adjust the
manually-selected AF point more frequently than any other control
(even including shutter speed or aperture speed).  Used like that,
and generally under reasonable lighting, I have had very few issues.
