I'll concede that point. :) Mine was great, for its price range, and the ones reviewed by various periodicals were apparently pretty good too. But it's no secret that the lens wasn't of the same kind of build quality as a '*' lens such as the FA28-70 f/2.8. So that being the case, quality variance is a distinct possibility.
