It wasn't me. I use a piece of rubber cut to fit 49mm and unscrew the ring. However, you may also use any thick soft rubber for the job with enough grip. Don't forget to apply low strength threadlock (Threebond 1401 if you want something original) for the 3 screws (#2 in the pic) when assembling.
