Obviously US banks don't treat security the same way as European or Oz banks, a lot of vendors from Europe actually publish their bank details on their web sites. There is no practical way that funds can be drawn from these accounts without explicit instructions form the vendor. If funds are transferred an the account without account holder authorization it remains the banks cost and responsibility not the account holder. Paranoia aside whether to publish account details or not should depend upon the terms and conditions to which you agree with the account keeper.
