Hi, I just checked my warranty card from Pentax, and my latest LX is not quite four years old. My "older" one is a few months older. Yep, it seems like ages ago that everyone on the list was drooling over the LX, and now, for what seems like most people, it's been relegated as an antique or a collector's item. Pretty amazing for a three year old camera (even though the design goes back to around 1980 or so).
How long am I planning to live? If I install firmware 2.3.4a, I can go another thirty years with just minor tweaks. By that time the Leicas may need another CLA.
