I was at the camera shop yesterday (Domke sent another incorrect replacement strap for my FX5B... grr) and was browsing the tripod section again.

Bogen/Manfrotto has developed the 3001 legs a little bit further in the 3001PRO, with a new design column that allows easier removal of the lower end for low-angle work and the right angle mount for the column from the 3021PRO for better table top, etc. Very slick design. They use it also on the new 055 Magfibre models too ... basically the same legs as I have (3444D) but with the uprated column assembly and their new leg construction material.

I also took a gander at the newer model Acratech head ... they solved the primary issue that I didn't like about them, now there's an adjustable friction setting that is not affected by the primary lock control. I would be very inclined to order one of these (without their QR clamp, I prefer the RRS Lever Action clamp) as it is very compact and light.
