It's a long time since I've experienced a flash ROM upgrade failure and I've 
flashed hundreds of mother-boards, modems, video cards and other assorted 
peripherals and controller cards.

Most good flash programs verify the integrity of file containing the code to be 
updated however I've no idea if the integrated flash utility in the *ist D or 
DS has the capability and I'm not going to test it to find out :-)

Assuming that the file was down-loaded and unpacked correctly then copied 
without error to the CF card then the likely hood of an update failure would be 
pretty low. I assume if it did fail though it would need to be returned to the 
factory for re-programming.
