Thanks Markus. I had already written a longer version of this story for 
a magazine, so I figured I ought to include a quick version with the 
pic. It's not that often that a hot rod comes with such a happy tale.

the car really is that red and Dave and Shirl are still in love. 
They're
wonderful people, and I'm glad I got to know them and their
amazing Shadow.
