Well, actually, from later reports the problem with the sensor was low yields.
Phillips could not deliver the quantity needed. The problem the Contax had seemed to be with software/firmware rather than the sensor. Of course Pentax does not subscribe the the theory of rumor control, so we will probably never hear it from the horses mouth.
