until and unless Pentax produces such a camera, as soon as someone tops out the capabilities of the current Pentax bodies when they need the capability, they'll switch. if they are just getting into SLRs but are thinking of the future, having a very low capability ceiling means that people will look elsewhere. telling people that buying an entirely new medium format system to "go pro" with Pentax is a non-answer for those that can't or won't leave the 35mm body size.
a Canon 1D Mk2 and a set of L lenses is in the budget for May or June unless Pentax makes a concrete and useful announcement before then. in case anyone gets the wrong idea, none of my Pentax gear is for sale, except possibly my unused ZX-5n kit. i'm keeping the rest for the foreseeable future, and i am fairly sure i will be getting more Pentax glass anyway.

Pentax, at least in the near future, will be unable to sell a camera equalto Canon and Nikon high-end DSLR's in performance >at a competing price
because they have a lot smaller customer base and will achieve much smaller
volumes.MF based DSLR is a totally different kettle of fish that justify higherprices and lower volumes.
This makes sence. It's probably one of the main reasons, that the MZ-D was
never released.
Also, the only pro costumers Pentax really (still) has are the ones using
MF.
