Hey, I've actually considered it but the size/weight of the higher end models is an absolute deal-killer for me. For now it's a race between Pentax (to upgrade their sensor) and Canon (to downsize their high-end cameras). If Canon produces an ist-sized DSLR with 8 megapixels or better and 1.3 or less crop before pentax comes up with something similar, I'll definitely consider switching. They're both approaching the target from different directions :) The smart money would be on Canon getting there first, but there's going to be a large "buffer" with respect to time because of the money I'd have to raise! Let's see what lenses I'd have to replace: 15mm 20mm 24mm 50mm 100m macro 300mm f/2.8 17-35 2.8-4 zoom 28-70/2.8 zoom 80-200/2.8 zoom Given how long it would take me to raise the money to replace all those, I'd say Pentax has at lease a couple of years *after* Canon makes the camera I want to come up with a competitor ;-) -- Mark Roberts Photography and writing www.robertstech.com
