Thanks, Paul - I'll give that a try. It does look picey but Epson does provide a profile for it, so in theory I can proof everything with the affordable enhances matte and then switch over to the good stuff...

Hi Mark,
Epson Velvet Fine Art paper prints beautifully in BW on the 2200. It's pricey, but worth every penny.

Mark, for something entirely different, try printing on the Epson canvas. I did
some on Geo Lepp's Epson 10000 several years ago and with the right image it
will just blow you away with a very painterly effect.

Subject: OT: Paper Recommendations for Epson 2200

A couple of months ago I upgraded from my old Epson 2000p to an Epson 2200.
My main motivation was to be able to print good, neutral B&W, and I've been
very pleased with the 2200 in this regard. I've done some side by
comparisons with some fiber prints I did a few years ago, and the 2200 is
pretty much right there.

Using this printer opens up new avenues for paper - the 2000p was pretty
limited in regards to paper options. The 2200 offers much more flexibility,
though so far I've only printed on enhanced matte, Epson's Watercolor, and
Premium Lustre (the standard fare...) So far I use the matte or water color
paper for B&W - I can still detect a very slight color tint under certain
light with the 2200 and Luster or Semi Gloss papers. For color work, all of
the papers seem to do fine.

Does anyone have any recommendations re paper options for this printer? A
few years ago I took a workshop with Mark Klett, who was printing with an
Epson 7500 and (I assume) the same basic UltraChrome ink set. His prints
were on a nice heavy rag like paper, and I recall him saying it was Eclipse
paper - but I can't find anything like that doing a web search.

Any suggestions?
