I've come to the conclusion that for general use on the *istD the A50mm 2.8 is a good solution. It's cheap(ish), light, at a 75mm equivalent should work reasonably well for macro on the smaller format, and also provides a usefull 'fast' lens as part of a lightweight kit with two f4 zooms at the short and long end.
Boris, get a cheap A50/2.8, play with it for a while, sell it if it doesn't work for you, I predict you'll keep it though.
Anyone willing to enable me, please?
Seriously however, if anyone, such as you Rob, who admitted to have collected lotsa macro gear, has an A50/2.8 lens that they don't use, I'd be glad to borrow it. We can establish reasonable terms should I mistreat the lens in any way...
