Ah, I getcha now, and I can see yer point. Sometimes these things just distract for some unexplainable reason - kinda like the candy cane sticking out of Dave Brooks' cats ear (in the PAW he just posted). It also may be that the headlights don't bother me because here in Canada, daytime running lights have been the law for 10 years or more, so it would be most peculiar for us to see a car without them on.
